Tasmania is Australia's smallest state and the most decentralised and geographically diverse. The landscape can change from rainforested valleys and highland lakes to long glistening white beaches, or towering sea cliffs ... all within a 90-minute drive. And the climate is maritime and mild. Everything is so easy to get to: you can stand atop a mountain peak in the morning and paddle an azure sea in the afternoon. You can pack more into your day because you spend less time driving.Video brought to you by Travelindex Network and Travel & Tourism Foundation. Recorded in January 2007. The video begins as I fly above the Derwent River looking down on the city of Hobart, Tasmania. Next there is a cockpit view of my landing at Hobart International Airport. On the ground I walk along the wharf in downtown Hobart and past Salamanca Place. I then goto the top of Mount Wellington for spectacular views of the city. The video concludes at Mount Nelson Lookout and another scenic vista of Hobart. From: timvp.com

Tasmania Australia - What a beautiful state

Heres a slide show of photos I took while in Tassie in September 07. I love my photography but I dont get to do too much of it. I took all these while on our honeymoon. I guess the stress of the wedding was gone so I was stress free which allowed me to take some of my best photos. Some photos were just taken because of where we were but while we were in Strahan - which is on the west coast - we had a full day to just walk around. I took this chance to get snappy happy. I took near 200 hundred photos on that day which only about 10 or so made the cut. Places seen in this vid are below; Hobart Mt Wellington Port Aurthur Richmond East Coast Campbell Town Scottsdale Launceston Devonport Marakoopa Cave Stanley Queenstown Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair and different locations on the way. =EDIT= My wife pointed out that 2 photos she took. One of the Sheep "RAMBO" and a beach photo. BREAKING NEWS: 15th Jan 2012 Tasmanian Tiger Remains Discovered in Northern Tasmania

www.tassieboys.com.au Two brothers Levi and Jarom Triffitt from the Tassie Boys dicover a Thylacine skull high up on the bank of creek in a remote area of Northern Tasmania, "We started our day trail riding as usual stopped for a short break and went for a walk to see if we could find a fresh water lobster in the creek and ended finding a skull, we weren't real sure what it was at first but by the look of the long bottom jaw and teeth we knew it couldn't have been a wallaby or possum and were convinced it was a tasmanian tiger. We didn't want to damage it riding our bikes home so we left it there until the next morning and came back with the cars. http

Targa Tasmania 2011 Riana ripper crash - Evo flies 35m at 190km/hr -

After confusion over the no. of crests on this 1km straight, the left 4 1/2 call came too late as we were light over the last crest meaning braking did nothing. We both walked away ok but have a look at the difference in neck movements between us. I (Kym) was wearing a HANS device, Kirrilee was not. She was much sorer than I was, a great example of why these devices are critical - you don't dress to race, you dress to crash. We were placed 22 of 61 prior to the flight/crash. Thanks to the Ralliart boys for supporting us this weekend and the farmers for providing humour and counselling following the crash and for towing the car out of the boggy paddock. See the full stage vision and some extra stuff at the end here - www.youtube.com Now, given we could have died in this stack, if you own or manage a business and you put callers on hold (that's almost every business) you need Messages On Hold so please call us on 1800 Messages and ask us to produce a free demo so you know what callers could be listening to. Cloning The Tasmanian Tiger Part 1

Here is some history on the Tasmanian Tiger from Australia. For those who wish to learn about it and what mankind has done to destroy it. Like so many other animals and those on the brink of EXTINCTION. But maybe just maybe there is hope to bring these animals back alive walking amongst the forests once more or swimming in the seas of the world. We can only hope that Michael Archer and his team succeed. Good Luck Michael, i hope that future children of the world get to see extinct animals once more with the attitude of protection rather than destruction. I am truly a fan of this once majestic creature we call the "Thylacine" or Tasmanian Tiger. Regards, Moggy

The Lost Tasmanian Tiger (Rare Video)

The Queensland tiger is a cryptid reported to live in the Queensland area in eastern Australia. Also known by its native name, the yarri, it is described as being a dog-sized feline with stripes and a long tail, prominent front teeth and a savage temperament. It has been hypothesized to be a survivor or descendant of the large predatory marsupial Thylacoleo, officially considered to be extinct, or possibly a large feral cat variant (given possible discrepancies with thylacoleo dentition). In 1926 AS le Souef described it as being a Striped marsupial cat in The Wild Animals of Australasia, this information later also included in Furred Mammals of Australia, by Ellis Troughton, longtime curator of mammals in the Australian Museum. Among cryptids it has arguably come closest to official recognition.

Tasmania

Tasmania is an Australian island and state. It is 240 kilometres (150 mi) south of the continent, separated by Bass Strait. The state includes the island of Tasmania -- the 26th largest island in the world -- and the surrounding islands. The state has a population of 507626 (as of June 2010), of whom almost half reside in the greater Hobart precinct. Tasmania's area is 68401 square kilometres (26410 sq mi), of which the main island covers 62409 square kilometres (24096 sq mi). Tasmania is promoted as the natural state, the "island of inspiration", and A World Apart, Not A World Away owing to its large and relatively unspoiled natural environment. Almost 37% of Tasmania lies in reserves, national parks and World Heritage Sites.[9] The island is 364 kilometres (226 mi) long from its northernmost to its southernmost points, and 306 kilometres (190 mi) from west to east. The state capital and largest city is Hobart, which encompasses the local government areas of City of Hobart, City of Glenorchy, and City of Clarence, while the satellite town of Kingston (part of the Municipality of Kingborough) is generally included in the Greater Hobart area. Other major population centres include Launceston in the north and Devonport and Burnie in the northwest. The subantarctic Macquarie Island is also under the administration of the state, as part of the Huon Valley Council local government area. Take on the Edge - Stanley TASMANIA

Vision inspired by STA Travel's 'Move' by Rick Mereki & Tim White. Be captivated by beauty in places you've never been. Stand at the Edge of the World and be enthralled by the power of the wild Southern Ocean... Visit www.take-on-the-edge.com.au and share your Take on the Edge! THE PRODUCTION - It was filmed on a Canon EOS 7D, with EF 16-35mm f Lens with added Go Pro vision (Dismal Swamp slide) and edited on Avid Media Composer. THE BRIEF -- Create a quirky and interactive You Tube video to promote the Circular Head region (Stanley and surrounds) in North West Tasmania. We developed a concept to engage and inspire people to escape the mundane, busy city life and 'take on the edge'. Circular Head not only boasts the 'freshest air in the world', but also the longest uninterrupted expanse of ocean in the world (from Sea West of Tasmania to Argentina), affectionately known as the 'Edge of the World'. This is the location of our 'Stop Sign' featured in the video which inevitably changes the direction of the protagonist's journey. After securing our main talent, Channel 7's Make me a Supermodel winner Rhys Uhlich, and a music track 'Wonderful' specially written and composed by local artist Heloise, several weeks of planning and test shoots followed to ensure a smooth transition from filming to the edit suite and consistency of story.
