***READ BEFORE WATCHING*** This tool-assisted speedrun by Swordless Link (me) aims to beat The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in as little a time as possible. This category is known as "Any%", because its goal is for the game to be beaten as quickly as possible no matter what has to be done to do it. My comments on the run can be found here: tasvideos.org I strongly recommend reading this, as it details all of the major tricks used in the run, as well as giving a run-down of each individual area visited in it. It was made on an emulator, using frame-by-frame shooting, savestates, and rerecords to overcome things like reaction time and human error. ***READ BEFORE WATCHING*** This tool-assisted speedrun by Swordless Link (me) aims to beat The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time while beating all of the dungeons, temples, and Ganon Trials in as little a time as possible. This category is widely known as "all temples", "all dungeons", "MST (medallions/stones/trials)", and "no major skips". This run is the result of many months of hard work optimising the game. The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons TAS in 1:25:57.22 by Swordless Link & Tompa [HD]

***READ BEFORE WATCHING*** This tool-assisted speedrun by Swordless Link (me) & Tompa aims to beat The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons in as little a time as possible. It was made on an emulator, using frame-by-frame shooting, savestates, and rerecords to overcome things like reaction time and human error. As such, it is purely a form of entertainment, and is not designed to show skill. This is Tompa's YouTube channel: www.youtube.com Be sure to subscribe to it if you enjoyed this run. BrandonE from TASVideos was nice enough to encode this run for us. Be sure to check out and subscribe to his channel: www.youtube.com This TAS is the result of years of hard work on the game. The game is not as simple as it may appear. Enemies are extremely tedious to manipulate without costing time, and there has to consistently be enough pegasus seed drops to be able to run around optimally. This run was made by me and Tompa. It should not be uploaded without first getting permission from us. Any anti-TAS comments will be deleted. Julia 61-hit combo [TAS by hand]

Steve 5x st.HP combo: www.youtube.com I had to practice so much to actually capture this. It's the 1 frame jab links that really did it but it's of comparable difficulty to Chun;s 150+hit loops from SFIV. Jadeshikonapan's original, Tool-assisted video (combo starts at 0:27) www.youtube.com Although it was the jabs that really ramped up the difficulty (especially since they can't be plinked) pretty much everything else about the combo is pretty awkward too. Although jadeshikonapan posted a vid (the first I'd seen demoing it) about a week ago, for those that don't know, you can cancel Julia's dash into her ff+MP elbow, and then combo after that too. So, finding ways to combo into something that then can be special cancelled into qcb+P, held and then dashed out of, gives her some really sick loops. I did originally want to copy jadeshikonapan's combo exactly but the walking between cr.LPs is beyond difficult to do by hand (she has 2/3 frames to walk and then has to crouch and hit LP on the same frame) and the idea of doing 6+ in a single combo kind of defeated me. Plus I was stoaked that I actually figured out how to squeeze 1 more hit out of every rep. I included the walking between cr.LPs in the 2nd clips anyway though, just to show it can be done. PS. In reality, this is a 53-hit Julia Combo followed by 8-hits from Chun but that would have been a less exciting title.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening TAS in 3:49.28 by Swordless Link [HD]

***READ BEFORE WATCHING*** A tool-assisted speedrun of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening by me. Thanks to Brandon for encoding the run in HD. Check out his channel and subscribe to him: www.youtube.com "The Legend of Zelda - Link's Awakening is a classic Game Boy Zelda adventure. Link must travel across the dream world of Koholint Island, collecting the 8 Instruments to wake the Wind Fish and go home after a terrible shipwreck. Swordless Link, however, decided collecting instruments for a one-man band was a waste of time, so he skipped all of that and went straight to the Wind Fish (with a pesky boss battle in the middle)." This movie beats the previous one by 11 seconds, thanks to a new route in the dungeon, and further optimisation. The actual movie page, as well as my comments on the run, can be found here: tasvideos.org This movie was made on an emulator, with frame-by-frame shooting, savestates and rerecords. It is NOT meant to show skill; it is ONLY supposed to provide entertainment. Therefore, any anti-TAS comments will be deleted instantly. Try to remember that speedruns and TASes are different. Speedruns aim to show how skilled the runner is, and TASes aim to provide an entertaining video for the viewer. There's nothing more to it. Try to appreciate each category for what they are. ***READ BEFORE WATCHING*** This tool-assisted speedrun by Swordless Link (me) aims to beat The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX in as little a time as possible while still collecting all 8 instruments from the dungeons. It was made on an emulator, using frame-by-frame shooting, savestates, and rerecords to overcome things like reaction time and human error. As such, it is purely a form of entertainment, and is not designed to show skill. This is the second upload I've done of my run. This one is in HD, because BrandonE from TASVideos was nice enough to encode it for me. Be sure to check out and subscribe to his channel: www.youtube.com What separates this run from the glitched run is that no screenwarping or doghouse glitches are done in this run. It was the best way to define a category which would justify this run's existence. This TAS is the result of 7 months of hard work on the game. My intial goal was to improve the previous run by at most, 2 minutes. I ended up beating it by 9 minutes and 47.25 seconds. I'm very proud of this run, and am more than satisfied with my final time. There's no way this run would've been possible without help from others, most notably, Tompa, who devoted a lot of time to me and my run to help get it as good as it could be. This tool-assisted speedrun by MrGrunz (me) aims to beat The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask in as little a time as possible by abusing several tricks and glitches. I know you guys had to wait long for this (actually planned on finishing this in like early 2010), but here it is. good quality needs time, which apllies to the actual TAS and also to the encode. The TAS was finished over a month ago already, but I decided to wait for Aktan to encode this first before publishing it on youtube, so I could provide this very high quality encode. Huge thanks to him for doing such an amazing job. It was made on an emulator, using frame-by-frame shooting, savestates, and rerecords to overcome things like reaction time and human error. As such, it is purely a form of entertainment, and is not designed to show skill. The various tricks and glitches, such as the Fairy Fountain Wrong Warp Glitch and Bottle Duplication Glitch, have been described by me here: tasvideos.org This TAS is the result of 2 years of hard work on the game. My goal was to get a time under 1 hour and 30 minutes. Although I discovered many new tricks while doing the run, I only barely subbed 1:30. Words can't describe how happy I am that I finally finished this project and I guess most people out there are very happy to see this run eventually done as well. 11/25/10 edit - Happy Thanksgiving (to those that celebrate it)! As a little treat, I spent some time re-timing the annotations and implementing pause annotations again! Nearly anytime an annotation shows up, the video will pause for a full minute, so most people should be able to read all the annotations now. Viddler mirror here. It has the original music, but no annotations, so take your pick. www.viddler.com Oh, and before people start asking, the audioswapped song is "Speak to Angels" by 009 Sound System. It was changed because somebody thought it was funny to flag this video for copyright infringement, and it muted the audio. Eh. TASes are recordings of games "formed by constructing an input file slowly over time using an emulator as a tool to overcome human limitations such as skill and reflex, then playing the file back to give the impression that the game is played extraordinarily" (from TASVideos.org). Tools such as savestates, frame-advance (not used in this TAS), and slowdown are used extensively to produce superhuman play. Not the most fun thing to make, let me tell you (especially with ZSNES.) If you wish to request a game for me to TAS, read my channel page description first for the "rules." SSBM Target Test [TAS] & [AR] World Record Compilation

PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION: The idea to create this video do I have from the compilations of FoxFF9115. But since his last video is from 2010, I decided to make a new one. The music is also from him but was created by William Walden. I normally wanted to add an other music but didn't found something more that could fit. I also think that I'm not very creative with music =/ This is an [TAS] and [AR] World Record Compilation of the Target Test in Super Smash Bros. Melee. TAS = Tool Tool Assisted Speedrun/Superplay, which slowes the game down where you can reach a frame-perfect game. AR = Action Replay. About the scores and videos: Doctor Mario's score of 12.70 is the second best score. The world record is 12.68 (here: www.youtube.com ). I had unsolveable problems to put it in without hanging. Pikachu isn't in the video. The world record video of 6.68 (here: www.youtube.com ) didn't run and I couldn't upload a second best score, somehow. Then I left it because the next best scores aren't near enough to the best. Sorry about the different sizes of the videos. [TAS] NES Mega Man 6 (USA) by AngerFist & adelikat in 31:33.9

This is a tool-assisted speedrun. For more information, see tasvideos.org Mega Man 6 (USAのロックマン6) completed fast, now about one minute faster than the last version. This is a joint project between AngerFist (tasvideos.org who played the levels, and adelikat (tasvideos.org who played the bosses. In Mega Man 6 Capcom has weeded out almost all of the bugs abused in the previous Mega Man incarnations while introducing new ones which were unfortunately unable to contribute significant time-saving techniques. Kyrsimys (tasvideos.org played his run (tasvideos.org quite well making use of what glitches are available, so there wasn't much to optimize in jumps and tricks, but there was room for improvement in optimizing weapon selection and minimize weapon switches (which are very slow).

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time TAS by Bloobiebla (56:57.33)

***READ BEFORE WATCHING*** This tool-assisted speedrun, by Nathan "Bloobiebla" Caldwell, beats The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in under an hour, using several tricks and glitches, the most notable of these being the "Reverse Bottle Adventure" glitch, which allows the player to write things to the game's memory that haven't actually been collected yet. It's used to get things like the bomb bag and the light arrows. For more information on Reverse Bottle Adventure, check this page: zeldaspeedruns.com The other major skip in this run is the Door of Time skip. To see how exactly it's done, check this page: zeldaspeedruns.com The various other tricks and glitches, such as the hover to the fishing pond and all the superslide-related glitches, have been described by Bloobiebla here: tasvideos.org --- This is a tool-assisted speedrun, played on an emulator with rerecords, savestates, slowdown, and frame-by-frame shooting. It is NOT meant to show skill, but rather the game pushed to its limits, as it is purely a form of entertainment. --- Huge thanks to Aktan for encoding this. --- Bloobiebla has given me permission to host his run for him. It should not be uploaded without first getting his permission. --- Any comments posted on the run will be relayed to Bloobiebla, and will either be responded to by him, or by me on his behalf. Any baseless complaining or criticism will be removed on sight. --- Enjoy the run. Be sure to check out and subscribe to Bloobiebla's channel: www ...

The Cheetahmen (Action 52) TAS in 3:56.06 by Swordless Link

***READ BEFORE WATCHING*** The publication of this movie can be found here: tasvideos.org This tool-assisted speedrun, made by me, of Action 52's "The Cheetahmen" game finishes the game in 3 minutes 56.06 seconds (14187 frames). The timing ends at the last hit required to kill the last boss, because the game is over after that (it takes you back to the title screen). This run was made on an emulator using slowdown, savestates, rerecords, and frame-by-frame shooting. It is NOT meant to show skill but rather the game pushed to its limits. Massive thanks to Brandon for once again providing me with this amazing HD encode of my run. Check out and subscribe to his channel here: www.youtube.com --- I decided to run this game after seeing phantom321's run of it on the workbench at TASVideos. I had actually planned to run the game before, after seeing the Angry Video Game Nerd's review of it, but never got around to it. After seeing phantom321's run, I noticed several places that were improvable (particularly the boss battles, and a massive shortcut in level 1 that he ignored (although he ignored it intentionally as a speed-entertainment tradeoff)), so I decided to TAS the game myself to see how much I could save. I ended up beating his run by 4755 frames (1 minute 19.26 seconds) through various improvements. I can't really be bothered listing these, because they aren't particularly interesting. If you really want to know, I'll PM them to you. --- This run isn't really meant to be ...
