Explosion - An improvised synth solo

MooT BooXLe performing on the Synthesizers.com modular analogue synthesizer. This is not a perfect performance, as it was improvised in one go. Also functioning in this video are the Moogerfooger CP-251, the Roland Space Echo, and Reason drums. I was controlling the filter cutoff with a CV pedal. REMIX available NOW at www.myspace.com/mootbooxle !! Also, I wasn't looking at the camera, in case you were wondering. I was watching computer monitors, which were showing visual feedback on what I was playing. Thanks for watching!!

Skrillex - Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites LIVE Synth Cover (Vox Atomic)

NEW COVER (Daft Punk) www.youtube.com (Facebook: www.facebook.com Hey guys, I made this video to see if it was possible to play one of Skrillex's songs 100% live, without any pre-recorded parts on the computer. And this is the result. Enjoy! Soundcloud: soundcloud.com MP3: www.mediafire.com Gear I used: Korg MicroKorg Korg Electribe MX-1 Korg Kaoss Pad 3 Yamaha MG124C Mixer NOTE: The only edit I made to this song in post-production was adding a bit of reverb. The purpose of these videos is to break the notion that all electronic music has to be performed by DJs with a set of turtables or Ableton controllers. Personally, I like the risk involved with this kind of performance; as it makes the reward all the more great! And now for a quick little bio for those of you who have read all this! My name is Ethan Dirks, and starting in late 2011 I started going by my performance name "Vox Atomic." I mostly produce electro, though I've been experimenting with a little dubstep lately. Recently, I've shifted my focus onto performing everything completely live(which is difficult but incredibly rewarding!) So stay tuned to this channel for a new song on a regular basis!

Auduino: DIY Synthesizer

Make a DIY synth. It costs only $50! Auduino is a granular synthesizer built on the Arduino platform. It was designed by Tinker.it! and published under an open source license. I build one and plugged a stylus controller which was ripped from Gakken SX-150. It works very well. Its sound is dry and crispy, but I think it is not bad for $50. Want one? Do It Yourself! KORG MONOPOLY Analog Synth DEMO | Mono Poly

I played the Korg MonoPoly sometimes with a Roland DEP-5 for delay effects and a Lexicon MPX-500 for reverbs. The Korg MonoPoly came out 1981 and was the last analogue monophonic synthesizer from Korg (ok, they have now the Monotron, but this is rather a toy). Actually, the MonoPoly is a monophonic synth - but you can play it polyphonically, too - if necessary. The Korg/Mono Poly is a very flexible synthesizer: It has 4 oscillators, oscillator sync, cross modulation, PWM, noise generator (white noise), 24 dB Filter, 2 ADSR envelopes, 2 LFO's with many waveforms, ARPEGGIATOR, CHORD MEMORY and portamento. The built in microprocessor makes many things possible: chord memory, arpeggiator, key assign and polyphony. It is built around SSM chips like the Korg Polysix. I think, with the MONOPOLY Korg wanted to produce a synth as an alternative to the Minimoog and Sequential Circuits Pro One. Please don't expect it to sound like a Minimoog. The Minimoog remains one of the best sounding analog synths, and the Monopoly (like many others) can not compete in terms of sound quality. The basic sound is a bit "lo fi" but not too much like the MS series. It is a flexible instrument with an amazing potential. The most characteristic thing on the MonoPoly is the arpeggiator, when it triggers the oscillators in poly-mode. Every step of the arpeggiator triggers a different oscillator - unique patterns can be produced. The MonoPoly is a great synth with awesome sounds - it produces fat basses ...

BBC4 Synth Britannia Trailer

Transmission Date: BBC FOUR FRIDAY 16th OCTOBER AT 9PM In the late Seventies small pockets of electronic artists such as The Human League, Cabaret Voltaire and Throbbing Gristle were inspired by Kraftwerk and JG Ballard to dream of the sound of the future against the backdrop of bleak, high-rise Britain. Gary Numan's 1979 appearance on Top Of The Pops heralded the invention of synthpop, which would provide the soundtrack as Britain entered a new, ruthless era in the Eighties. Depeche Mode, four lads from Basildon, came to embody the new sound, while post-punk bands such as Ultravox, Soft Cell, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark and Yazoo took the synth from the pages of the NME and onto the front cover of Smash Hits. By 1983 the Pet Shop Boys and New Order were pointing to where the future of electronic music lay in dance. Contributors to Synth Britannia include Philip Oakey, Vince Clarke, Martin Gore, Bernard Sumner, Gary Numan and Neil Tennant.

Teenage Engineering OP-1 synthesizer hands on

www.engadget.com In an era of synth-toy overload, the OP-1 is definitely doing its thing to set itself apart from the pack. It wouldn't have surprised us if it never came out, simply vanishing into the ether like most too-good-to-be-true hardware tends to do. But the fine Swedes of Teenage Engineering are in Anaheim for NAMM with a production model on the floor, and now it's really, truly up for pre-order (please allow 8 weeks for manufacturing and processing) for $799 at their site. There are boatloads of updates from the OP-1's we've seen in the past: the little white slab with the colorful LCD now sports a raft of different sequencing modes, new stunningly visualized effects (like the boxer up above for punch...get it?), an accelerometer, and an FM radio, of all things

Trevor Pinch's DIY Modular Synth

Inverse Room interviews Trevor Pinch, author of "Analog Days" and other books about the history of technology, who demonstrates the DIY modular synth he built in the 1970's. The thing I find really cool about this design is the step sequencer that can be run at high enough speeds to create, in effect, a new oscillator with primitive custom waveforms. And of course there's the total lack of sides to the case--gotta love that, too!

FARFISA SYNTORCHESTRA - Analog Synthesizer 1975 | HQ DEMO

Demo of the Farfisa Syntorchestra - an italian analog keyboard / synthesizer. It looks a bit like an ARP synth. This vintage baby was used by Klaus Schulze on his album Moondawn, by Ash Ra (Ashra Tempel) and by Vangelis. Basically, it is a simple monophonic synthesizer with some presets which can be modified and a polyphonic section. These two sections can be also combined and slightly detuned (intervals are also possible) to sound like a 2-VCO monophonic synth. It is simple, and it sounds great - especially with a delay effect! I use it today to produce interesting pad and lead sounds in my music - sounds, which you don't get from other synths. It sounds really vintage, like classic electronic music from the seventies! I played the Syntorchestra along with delay from a Roland DEP-5.

KORG POLY-800 Analog Synthesizer 1984 | HQ DEMO | PATCHES

The Korg Poly-800 came out 1984 and is an interesting analog synthesizer with usable, interesting sounds. It has MIDI, runs even on batteries, and can be used as a remote keyboard. It was cheap, almost every musician could afford one - and can afford it even today. It has digital controlled oscillators (DCO's). Not digital oscillators - they are just controlled digitally. Actually, it has just square waveforms. Combining different footages of squares you'll obtain the usual saw, pulse and square waveforms - and some more. In the WHOLE mode it's 8-voice polyphonic. In DOUBLE MODE you have 2 DCO's per voice, this sounds best. This however, reduces the polyphony to 4 voices. It has a VCF - a real resonant analog filter. It also has 3 complex envelopes and a noise generator. It also has a switchable CHORUS, CHORD MEMORY and a polyphonic STEP SEQUENCER. What a pity that it does not have something like RING MOD or OSC SYNC. It also lacks portamento and PWM. But okay, it was a small budget synth. There also was a POLY-800 MK II, which had a programmable delay instead of the MK I's chorus. Also more MIDI functions and a bigger sequencer memory. But the sound of the filter is not as smooth as on the MK I. The sound does not reach the warmth of the original Poly-800. The Korg EX-800 is the desktop / rack version of the Poly-800. It has the same features and sound but CHORD MEMORY is missing. And it can't run on batteries. A desktop version EX-800 II never existed. In this movie I ...
