At the programme which was attended by thousands of women from Vadodara, Panchmahals, Dahod, Anand, Narmada and Bharuch districts, the Chief Minister announced an ambitious plan to replace mud chulhas with pressure cookers and gas burners. Anganwadi workers usually use wood to cook food. The smoke from the burning wood harms the childrens eyes and also creates several health hazards. This time a provision is made in the budget for anganwadi workers under which they will be given pressure cookers and LPG cylinders or gas connections, said Modi at the meet. At the meet, the department of Women and Child Development also announced a scheme under which pregnant women and adolescent girls will be supplied ready-to-eat food packets of sukhdi, sheera and upma. At the convention, cash prizes worth Rs 48.42 lakh were given to over 1731 women which included outstanding anganwadi workers and helpers under the Mata Yashoda Award scheme. Also, scholarships worth Rs 5,20800 were given to over 109 sports women for their achievement at national and international level.
