The Pantera has a 351 Cleveland engine and can reach speeds well over 120 MPH. The Pantera was the result of an Argentinian racing driver (Alejandro De Tomaso), Italian engineering and American muscle. The styling was handled by Tom Tjarda while Giampaolo Dallara was responsible for the structural design. Looking at the vehicle, it greatly resembles that of the Lamborghini offspring. 1974 De Tomaso Pantera GTS was the fastest production car in it's day. A real Ferrari and Lamborghini killer in it's day, but the Aventador would crush it now. This Pantera was one of the last hand made Italian built sports car powered by the Ford 351 Cleveland engine with with the ZF 5 speed manual gated transmission. This one has upgraded headers, Edelbrok Intake manifold, Hooly carb, TRW pistons, bored out .0030, Crane Cam, new bumper, The cars is simply amazing to drive and look at. My father bought it new, and then sold it to me, Only 25507 miles when I sold it to a very cool dude in California.

The DeTomaso Mangusta was the predecessor to the now very famous Pantera of 1971. Although the cars are very similar, the Mangusta and the Pantera shared very few parts. DeTomaso had figured out early on that there was no way his small company could tool up to build exclusive engines and transmissions for his car lines. He instead decided to explore the limits of design and engineering that were too bold for Ferrari and Maserati who were the established exotic car manufacturers and at this point, conservative in design and innovation.
