Niki Lauda's near fatal crash
During the first lap of the 1976 German Grand Prix, Niki Lauda's Ferrari 312B2 spun and hit an embankment off the side of the track. His helmet became dislodged form the impact, and the car fuel tank ruptured. The car was then hit by another, and it caught fire. Niki Lauda escaped with his life thanks to the combined actions of fellow drivers Arturo Merzario, Guy Edwards, Brett Lunger and Harald Ertl rather than by the ill-equipped track marshals. At the time, safety vehicles took about 10 minutes to reach the driver, since the accident occurred several miles along the circuit.
Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition sets lap time of 7:14

Driver Akira Iida clocked a lap time of 7:14.64 on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife on August 31. The special edition LFA did it using its standard-issue (road-legal) Bridgestone Potenza RE070 tires. The LFA Nürburgring Package is scheduled to go into a limited-run production in 2012. Only 50 units will be from a total LFA production run of 500 models. The Nürburgring Edition of the LFA comes with a carbon fiber body kit, a re-tuned suspension and an upgraded 6-speed sequential gearbox. It is powered by a 4.8-liter V10 engine with 562 hp (419 kW / 570 PS) - the standard LFA has an output of 412 kW (560 PS). The complete package costs an additional $70000 but delivers a 0-100 km/h sprint of just 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 325 km/h (202 mph).

Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG) has set a new lap record for an electric vehicle (EV) at the legendary 20.8km Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit in Germany. The TMG EV P001, with 100% electric powertrain and Jochen Krumbach at the wheel, set a new lap record of 7mins 47.794secs to beat the previous lap record, which stood at 9mins 1.338secs, by a very substantial margin. Using two electric motors, the TMG electric powertrain has a top speed of 260km/h which combined with 800Nm of torque to achieve impressive speeds on the extremely challenging Nordschleife track, which includes significant elevation changes and lengthy flat-out sections. In a world where modern professional racing is restricted by regulations, the X1 is a machine born from a fantastic "what if" dream of Gran Turismo "What would the fastest racing car on Earth, free of any and all regulations, look like?" And the only way to experience it is in Gran Turismo 5. Initially the X1 Prototype was a single-seater canopied prototype wing car with covered front wheels. Powered by a 1500ps direct-injection V6 Twin Turbo, on paper the performance would have been spectacular, producing a top speed of 400km/h (248.6mp/h) and a maximum lateral acceleration of 6G. But once Red Bull Racing was brought on board to be a partner, the X1 really took off. Adrian Newey, master aerodynamic engineer and Red Bull Racing's chief technical officer, suggested "Fan Car" technology, a long-held dream of his, be added to the design of the X1 Prototype. A "fan car" is a vehicle having a fan mechanism which forces the air out from underneath the car to reduce air pressure under the car's floor. The resulting suction draws the car to the ground surface and creates a massive amount of downforce. And because it can create downforce regardless of the vehicle's current speed, it dramatically raises it's cornering speed capability even in low speed corners. Thanks to the insight of Mr. Newey, the X1 Prototype design was transformed. A large fan was added to the rear end of the body to implement the Fan Car technology. Plus, Newey provided <b>...</b>

A lap with a Bmw 1M Coupe on the Nurburgring. The car was awesome and no problems whatsoever. BTG lap time was 8.15 with traffic and i also needed to back off throttle for an accident in the last part. Without traffic and the accident under 8 min BTG is possible. I am following a CSL. Which is a nurburgring track day car. CSL has a cage, big brakes, lightweight exhaust and race seats en runs on pilotsport cup tires. The 1M coupe was completely off factory. I was amazed how well this 1M coupe runs on the Nurburgring. Driver: Andre de Vries.

I filmed quite an extraordinary situation on the Nürburgring Nordschleife at Brünnchen. This was during Scuderia Hanseat and it was so busy on the track that a small traffic jam arised.
