Elvis Presley - Little Sister.
Elvis recorded this Doc Pomus / Mort Shuman track in Nashville 26th, 1961 for almost immediate single release as the B-side of " ( Marie`s the Name ) His Latest Flame." Elvis picked up the song after Bobby Darin had turned it down. As soon as Elvis and the Nashville band recorded it, engineer Bill Porter said "We`ve got a classic" ( words which can be heard on 2003 FTD release Sudio B: Nashville Outtakes). Alternate takes from the session are on Elvis Sings Mort Shuman & Doc Pomus, Essential Elvis Vol.6, and half a dozen on 2006 FTD release Something For Everybody. "Little Sister" made it to #5 in the charts on initial release, selling around 700000 units during its three months in the charts. It did even better in the UK, claiming #1 for four straight weeks. The track made its first album appearance on Elvis` Golden Records Vol. 3. Elvis often sang this live in the Seventies, particularly in 1972 and 1977. For his live shows in 1970 Elvis worked the song up in a medley with "Get Back," to be found on Elvis Aron Presley, various bootlegs and FTD release Summer Festival.
