The Two Escobars - Official Trailer (Pablo Escobar Vs Andres Escobar)

The fascinating tragic stories of drug kingpin Pablo Escobar and soccer player Andres Escobar. Pablo Escobar was the richest, most powerful drug kingpin in the world, ruling the Medellín Cartel with an iron fist. Andres Escobar was the biggest soccer star in Colombia. The two were not related, but their fates were inextricably-and fatally-intertwined. Pablo's drug money had turned Andres' national team into South American champions, favored to win the 1994 World Cup in Los Angeles. It was there, in a game against the US, that Andres committed one of the most shocking mistakes in soccer history, scoring an "own goal" that eliminated his team from the competition and ultimately cost him his life. The Two Escobars is a riveting examination of the intersection of sports, crime, and politics. For Colombians, soccer was far more than a game: their entire national identity rode on the success or failure of their team. Escobar: IMF hungry for cash but hangs on to power

As more and more countries are turning to the International Monetary Fund for help, it in turn is reaching out for support from some of the world's emerging financial power players. IMF chief Christine Lagarde's preparing to head off to China on Tuesday, and is currently in Moscow for talks with the Kremlin. 'Asia Times' correspondent Pepe Escobar thinks it's a sign of the IMF's growing desperation that its head is asking emerging economic powers for help, but he says the countries will want something in return for their cash. Situation Critical - S01E07 - Hunting Pablo Escobar

Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria (December 1, 1949 -- December 2, 1993) was a Colombian drug lord. Often referred to as the "World's Greatest Outlaw", he was perhaps the most elusive cocaine trafficker ever to have lived. He is regarded as the richest and most successful criminal in world history. Some other sources state that he was the second richest criminal ever, after Amado Carrillo Fuentes. In 1989, Forbes magazine declared Escobar as the seventh richest man in the world, with an estimated personal fortune of US$25 billion. He owned innumerable luxury residences and automobiles and, in 1986, he attempted to enter Colombian politics, even offering to pay off the nation's US$ 10 billion national debt. It is said that Escobar once burned US$ 2 million in cash just to keep warm while on the run.
