The Fuji Safari Park in Shizuoka welcomed the three male lion babies into the world when they were born five weeks ago. These tiny kitties have just learned to purr and waddle about, making their first baby steps in becoming the king of the safari world. Each cub now weights about three kilograms and has been growing quickly thanks to the extra care given by the zookeepers. They lap up milk from their trainers three times a day as their teeth are still too small to chew up any meat. While other park animals may pout at the full star treatment they get, the babies may deserve most of it. They are now the star attraction in the area. Ever since their first public appearance last Saturday, the park is filled with visitors trying to catch a glimpse of the new kings in the making. Young and old people queue in line waiting anxiously for their turn to hold the cubs in their arms. Using airplanes, vehicles and snowshoes, he has radio-tracked over 100 bears in the vast forests of northeastern Minnesota, studying some for as long as 22 years. Lily is a three-year-old wild black bear who is part of Dr. Rogers' long-term study of black bear ecology and behavior at the Wildlife Research Institute. On January 8, 2010, Dr. Rogers installed a live video camera in Lily's winter den near Ely, Minnesota, so the public could share in the birth and care of her cub. Dr. Rogers, along with his research associate Sue Mansfield, and tens of thousands from around the world watched on the Internet, spending a sleepless night as bouts of labor continued for 21 hours and 39 minutes. Finally, on January 22 at 11:38 AM CST, Lily made some contortions, looked under her, and began the intense, sweet grunts that mothers make only to their cubs. This is one of 3 Bear cubs that visited one of the deer feeders here with their mom. This cub was on the right side of the deer feeder when mom and the other 2 cubs left. After a while, this cub realized he was alone and began walking around looking for them. After about 10 minutes of looking around he began to get a little frantic and began crying loudly for them.
