Cheech & Chong's Next Movie opens with the two aging stoners stealing gas in a trashcan, spilling it on themselves, and subsequently blowing up their car after trying to light a joint with gasoline fumes filling the vehicle. The rest of the film centers on Cheech wanting to get together with a social worker he likes, and wants the place to himself in order to seduce her. Another problem for Cheech is his cousin Red, who has just turned up from the stix and needs to be shown around town (Los Angeles). Cheech decides to kill two birds with one stone by sending Chong to meet his cousin. Chong heads off to the hotel where Red is staying and arrives to find him in a dispute with the receptionist (played by Paul Reubens) over how much the room is costing. The receptionist won't give back Red's suitcase until he pays up, but Red can't afford the bill. They decide to break into the room round the back and Red throws down his luggage. One of the bags he throws down contains twenty pounds of cannabis, much to Chong's delight. They proceed to go on a bender around town, trashing a music shop and visiting a high-profile brothel. Afterwards they visit Red's Weed fields out in the countryside, whereupon they are abducted by aliens, along with several cannabis plants. Cheech meanwhile gets so pumped and excited about the date that he wears himself out and ends up sleeping through it, while dreaming about what might have happened. He wakes up in the morning to find Chong bursting in <b>...</b>

Cheech & Chong ~ Santa Claus And His Old Lady
Cheech & Chong are a comedy duo consisting of Richard "Cheech" Marin and Tommy Chong, who found a wide audience in the 1970s and 1980s for their stand-up routines, which were based on the hippie and free love era, and especially drug culture movements, most notably their love for cannabis. The duo released many successful comedy albums, and starred in a series of low-budget commercials, becoming a successful comedy team. Some of their best-known comedy routines and songs include "Earache My Eye", "Basketball Jones", "Santa Claus and His Old Lady", and "Sister Mary Elephant". Perhaps their all-time most famous line is "Dave's not here", from their self-titled debut album. Their early success culminated with the release of their first feature-length movie, Up in Smoke, in 1978. Relatively successful, it became something of a cult classic and was successful enough to warrant a sequel, Cheech & Chong's Next Movie, in 1980, and Nice Dreams in 1981. The pair attempted to shy away from stoner comedy with 1984's "Cheech & Chong's The Corsican Brothers" but the film was universally panned by critics and fans alike. They also appeared in smaller supporting roles in Graham Chapman's Yellowbeard and Martin Scorsese's After Hours. In 1985 the duo released their album Get Out of My Room, which included the novelty hit song, "Born in East LA" (based on Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA").
