Basic Specs The ASUS 1015 PEM is a 10.1-inch netbook with a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 sporting an Intel Atom 1.5GHz N550 with a 250GB HDD (5400rpm) and 1GB of RAM which is upgradable to 2GB. Design The chassis finish of the netbook is soft to the touch and feels like its very good quality and at all like cheap plastic. Since its matte it is not the traditional finger print magnette we've seen on glossy models, you still get a few smudges but nothing significant. If black isn't your style you can also pick it up in blue, red, and white. Keyboard and TouchPad The keyboard was extremely functional, the shift key's could have bit a touch bigger for my liking. Even though it's outdated by Netbook standards, the Asus Eee PC 701 was reliable and durable companion during my travels through Southeast Asia and Australia. Yep, I installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my little, 2 year old netbook and boy, it is running it with no problems at all. After the (nlited) install, I disabled the page file; moved the temp contents to the RAM disk to free up ~1GB space and now I have 1.8GB free after the installation of Firefox and Foxit reader. I got the nlited version from a torr3nt website :) I installed it via flash drive using wintoflash utility (google for that. it is free).

www.blueaurapc.com In this video I took apart an ASUS Eee PC 1215T NetBook and replaced the 320GB hard drive with an OCZ Vertex II 60GB Solid State Hard Drive SSD. Installation was simple enough, but actually getting to the hard drive in this NetBook was difficult as there is not a cover underneath like there is for the RAM. In the end it was worth it! It is a bit of an understatement to say the performance improved. Most notably the boot time was much, much faster. Even browsing the internet was quicker and of course applications loaded much faster. These NetBooks do not have an optical drive, so getting the operating system installed was accomplished via a USB flash drive. I will be getting up a tutorial on our articles page to show how to set up a USB flash drive to install Windows 7. http
