The XTS is a new premium sedan model that will compete against the BMW 5-Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the Audi A6. The 2013 Cadillac XTS features a 3.6 liter V6 (LFX) engine that produces 300 hp (224 kW / 304 PS) mated to the Hydra-Matic 6T70 six-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain drives the Haldex all-wheel drive system that comes with an electronic limited-slip differential that splits the torque between the rear wheels. The XTS will come standard with 19-inch wheels with 20-inchers as an option. Tech features on the XTS include the all-new CUE info-tainment system, the Magnetic Ride Control adaptive suspension system and a color head-up display. The top trim level will be the XTS Platinum which features a chrome and satin-chrome grille finish, 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, and a leather and Alcantara interior. The 2013 Cadillac XTS goes on sale in North America in the spring of 2012.

Cadillac has upped the software game when it comes to creating a central information point for the driver known as the CUE, or the Cadillac User Experience. The 2012 Cadillac XTS, which will replace the STS and DTS, will be seen in its final form at either the LA Auto Show in December or the Detroit Auto Show in January 2012. We hope it doesn't stray far from the Platinum Concept.

Cadillac unveiled the 2013 XTS today, the newest addition to the Cadillac luxury sedan lineup. It arrives in showrooms in US and Canadian showrooms in the spring of 2012 as the most technologically advanced production car in the brand's history. Positioned directly above the centerpiece CTS family in Cadillac's revamped lineup, the new XTS features a 3.6L direct injection engine and advanced all-wheel drive system, marking a shift to more-efficient performance in a spacious luxury sedan. Cadillac CUE is the highly customizable user interface that exemplifies XTS' blend of advanced technology and artistic design. The heart of CUE, which stands for Cadillac User Experience, is the standard eight-inch (203 mm) screen in the "center stack," the faceplate below the screen and the steering wheel controls. CUE features several industry firsts, including capacitive-touch control with proximity sensing, gesture recognition and natural voice recognition. Available exclusively on the XTS is the 12.3-inch (312 mm) reconfigurable cluster. It features vibrant graphic displays showcased among four driver-selectable themes, ranging from minimal to extensive information. And while it is the prominent element in the XTS' technological character, CUE is part of a more comprehensive and layered approach to the car's design, capabilities and performance.

It was at the Detroit auto show in 2003 that Cadillac last unveiled a full-size luxury sedan concept, the outrageous Sixteen, a fantastical 1000-horsepower vision intended to evoke the grandest of grand days for the company some 70 years prior. For the 2010 Detroit show, Cadillac is showing an entirely more sober full-size sedan concept, the XTS Platinum. In stark contrast to the Sixteen, which was powered by a monstrous 13.6-liter V16 engine, the XTS is conceived to have a plug-in hybrid powertrain using the familiar 3.6-liter V6 along with at least one electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack. So the XTS's powertrain has 10 fewer cylinders, 10 fewer liters of displacement and 650 fewer horses than the Sixteen's.

New 2013 Cadillac XTS Driving
Cadillac has finally released details surrounding the 2013 XTS as it will be revealed, in the metal, later today at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. The styling of the XTS is a clear evolution of Cadillac's 'Arts & Science' design formula. While the styling is close to that of the XTS Platinum Concept shown at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show, the main difference comes in the way of slightly toned down lights. The sheet metal, however, is nearly the same as the concept's. From the satin-chrome grille and 20-inch aluminum wheels with chrome inserts, to the leather wrapped interior with Alcantara headliner, the XTS is the pinnacle of Cadillac luxury. The automaker is quick to note that while the design is bold and elegant, it's also an efficient way to carry passengers and cargo. Cadillac states that headroom, legroom, and knee space are all generous, which is important as the XTS is expected to be flogged to livery services as a replacement for the Lincoln Town Car. Featuring both front- and all-wheel drive options, the 2013 Cadillac XTS will come with a 3.6-liter direct injected V-6 rated at 300 horsepower and 264 pound-feet of torque. Using a six-speed automatic transmission, projected fuel economy ratings of 17/28 mpg city/highway for the front-wheel drive and 17/27 mpg for the all-wheel drive are good, but not great. How great is that? Finally a car that Richard Stallman can drive. Linux is the by product of years and years of every day people donating their spare time to write code to create something amazing. It started thanks Richard Stallman and his moral conviction that people should have freedom when it comes to their computers software. And in 2012, thanks to him and thousands of other people that made Linux possible we will now have a car that has software freedom as well... at lest we can hope.
