Roadfly.com - 2011 Jaguar XJL Supersport Road Test & Review

Roadfly spent some well needed quality time with one of the all time great, luxury automobiles... a Jaguar. We specifically road tested the new 2011 Jaguar XJL Supersport. The "L" stands for long wheel base and the Supersport means there's a 500 horsepower supercharged V8 under the hood. Competitors to this wonderful British sports sedan include the Audi A8, the Porsche Panamera Turbo, the Bentley Flying Spur, and a few other luxury super cars. When describing the interior the words that come to mind start with luxurious, sexy, functional, cool, and continue from there. We finally had a chance to test drive the 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe. The MSRP starts at $63K and even at that price you get a ton of bang for your buck. Not to mention all that horsepower. 0-60 MPH on the CTS-V Coupe is 3.9 seconds. The supercharged V8 produces 556 Horsepower. Roadflys review of the CTS-V Coupe confirms that Cadillac is going head to head against the best the Germans have to offer. The Cadillac CTS-V by just about every test beats the Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG and BMWs M5. Roadfly.com - 2012 Audi A7 Review and Test Drive

The 2012 Audi A7 may very well be the best-looking car Audi has ever built. And it's close to being the best Audi built, period. There isn't a weak spot in its design. In person it's sexy from any angle, and the interior is one of Audi's best and most logical. The navigation now uses Google Maps, and that alone makes the system worth the extra money in my opinion. Performance is stout, if not stirring: the A7 uses a 310-hp version of the S4's supercharged 3.0L V6. It goes from 0-60mph in around 5.5 seconds, which is darn quick...but it does it in such a smooth, subdued fashion that I hardly noticed. It's very difficult to keep your freeway speeds under 90mph in this car. There's a well-designed hatchback with lots of tie-downs and a monstrous opening that extends the functionality of the cargo area beyond its nominal capacity of 24.5 cubic feet—six more than a BMW X5! The A7 is fast, fun to drive, and practical with the huge hatch and standard Quattro all-wheel-drive. It's a sporty luxury car you can drive quickly in nearly any kind of weather and get decent mileage doing so (18 city/28 highway mpg). That makes its as-tested price of $66220 seem like a real steal. Roadfly.com - 2011 Mercedes S400 Hybrid Test Drive & Review

Mercedes-Benz, a company whose reputation for innovation has been somewhat overshadowed in recent years, has just staked out a new piece of territory. The 2011 Mercedes S400 hybrid is, in my opinion, the finest hybrid car available, and makes fewer compromises than any alternative-fuel vehicle we've seen to date. Mercedes calls it a "light hybrid." It's the first regular-series production car in the world with a lithium-ion battery, the same kind used in a cell phone or a laptop, and a different animal altogether from the nickel-metal-hydride (NiMH) batteries used in pretty much every other hybrid. That allows the battery pack to be so small and compact that is mounted up front, in the engine compartment. Most hybrids mount their batteries in the rear of the car, cramping rear-seat room or trunk space (or both). So, the S400 has a full-size rear seat and a full-size trunk. It's also equipped with a 7-speed automatic, not a CVT like most other hybrids. That makes it feel more like a 'real' car and less like a hybrid. There's truly too much to list about this car, so check out my video and watch for a full article soon! —Ross Rapoport, Road Test Editor and Video Host Visit roadflytv.com for more pictures and a downloadable window sticker. Host Emme Hall reviewed the 2011 Mercedes-Benz GLK 350. This is a luxury ute in the same class as the BMW X3, Audi Q5, and Acura RDX. The GLK wins points for its clean design inside and out and its bag of luxury features, as well as its great on-road handling. The 2011 Porsche Cayenne S Tiptronic has been completely redesigned for 2011. The engine powering this new Cayenne is a 4.8-liter aluminum V8 which features VarioCam Plus, dry-sump lubrication and direct fuel injection. The engine produces 400 hp at 6500 rpm and 369 lb-ft of torque at 3500 rpm, which is up 15 hp from 2010. Combined with the new eight-speed automatic transmission, the Cayenne S happily runs from 0-60 mph in 5.6 seconds. Top speed is a very fast 160 mph. The interior has received a major upgrade as well. Now resembling the interior of the Porsche Panamera, it's much cleaner, sportier, and sexier. The 2011 Porsche Cayenne S weighs about 400 pounds less than the 2010 model. This weight savings helps considerably with acceleration, braking, and handling and contributes to improved fuel economy. Roadfly.com - 2011 Range Rover Review & Road Test

The 2011 Range Rover is the ultimate off-road machine, and it's been recently updated for more luxury and a more functional interior, as well as improved aesthetics inside and out. It has a 5.0L V8 producing 375hp and 375 lb-ft. of torque, mated to a 6-speed automatic with "CommandShift" function channeling power through all 4 wheels. The Range Rover buffs its off-road credentials with a two-speed transfer case of the electronic variety, with an electronic center differential. There's a dizzying array of off-road specific driver-controlled settings to play with, like Gradient Release Control and Hill Descent Control, as well as the advanced "Terrain Response System" with settings for General, Snow, Mud, Sand, and Rock. Our test car wore almost $12000 in optional equipment, pumping its as-tested price up to $90735 from a starting MSRP of $78835. Those options were a $1700 audio system upgrade, a $4600 "Luxury Interior Package," a $1000 "climate glass and 4-zone AC" system, $1250 for reclining rear seats and $2500 for rear-seat DVD entertainment. Roadfly.com - 2011 Hyundai Elantra Review & Test Drive

Hyundai's Elantra, redesigned for 2011, is taking at the compact segment's big boys. It undercuts heavyweights like the Civic and Corolla in price, and offers a fuel economy rating that Hyundai has vigorously defended. The company insists that all Elantras regardless of equipment level or transmission will achieve the same 40mpg highway mileage rating. True to Hyundai form, it offers lots of cool features for the money (heated front AND rear seats, navigation, and a 'smart key' system) and the output of its 1.8L inline-four is surprisingly vigorous, at 148 horsepower and 131 lb.-ft of torque. It's not exactly fast, but Hyundai sells other cars for that. Our test car started at $17080, but the Elantra line starts at just $15550—an MSRP more at home in the subcompact segment, and an extraordinary value. Roadfly.com - 2011 Audi A4 Road Test & Review

The stylish and slick Audi A4 returns for 2011 with an all-new eight-speed automatic transmission that raises fuel economy to a remarkable 22 mpg in the city and 30 on the highway. Its engine is a 2 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that musters 211 horses and a decent 258 pound-feet of torque. We would've liked to see more power out of the A4, considering its main competitors, the BMW 3-series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, easily outshine the A4 when it comes to power and acceleration. However, Audi's standard all-wheel drive gives the ride a very stable and competent feel, you'll never feel out of control in the A4. And the interior of the A4 is where Audi might just take the lead in its class in terms of quality. The standard leather is much more plush than you might find in a 3-series or a C-Class without adding more and more additional packages. The infotainment screen is well implemented and convenient, you're never at a loss for intuitive response from all of your car's amenities. With a base price of $34140, the Audi A4 is a strong and beautiful competitor to more expensive competition from other European manufacturers, for those who perhaps prefer efficiency and style over raw driving power. Roadfly.com - 2012 Porsche Cayman R Test Drive & Car Review

The 2012 Porsche Cayman R was one of the most-anticipated cars to ever come through the Roadfly office. The car's stats are simply stunning: 0-60mph in 4.7 sec. 330hp @ 7500rpm, 2855 lb. Even the door handles have been replaced with nylon tabs to reduce weight. The results are predictable. The Cayman R is virtually telepathic, to the point that it nearly bores you. It's so free of vice that you start to feel that it's just like a normal, civilized car, with a tad more immediacy...and you wonder what the big deal is. Only when you go back to your daily driver do you realize how responsive the Cayman actually is. It's a nearly perfect machine. It makes few compromises that interfere with spirited driving, but still manages to be completely docile, tractable, and even practical with its two trunks and stellar reliability. It also gets great fuel mileage, at 19 city and 27 highway when equipped with the 6-speed manual. Ever gone to a movie that didn't blow you away at first, but weeks later you're still thinking about it and can't get it out of your head? That's what my days with the Cayman R left me with. This car is definitely on my 'short list' of cars I want to own before I die. It's slightly expensive with a starting MSRP of $66300, but given how well-built Porsches are in general and how good their resale values are, the price is fair in my opinion. Roadfly.com - 2011 Kia Sorento Road Test & Review

Completely overhauled and redesigned for 2011, the all-new Kia Sorento boasts a fresh look and some cool new features. Host Emme Hall spent a week in the SUV and was thoroughly impressed. Previously based on a truck's frame, the 2011 has been turned into a more reliable unibody frame, and the Sorento is all the better for it. The engine is improved as well--our tester came with a 3.5L V6 engine with 276 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque, as well as the drivetrain changing from rear-wheel drive to front-wheel drive. Gas mileage is roughly 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. Inside, the Sorento has room to spare. With a new third row of seats, you can fit up to 7 passengers inside this modestly-sized crossover. With the seats down, your cargo space is enormous and well-suited to haul whatever your junk might be. The interior, in addition, is improved. Amenities are bountiful, you have Bluetooth/wireless integration, iPod connectivity, dual-zone climate control, a whole slew of audio and satellite radio options. The seats are a little on the plain side, but match well with its no-nonsense exterior. Plus, the two-row sunroof is a great and much-appreciated addition. And, all things considered, the list of safety options on the Sorento is staggering, with an onslaught of airbags and electronic safety features that will surely make for a safe ride for you and your family. Roadfly.com - 2011 Mazda RX-8 Review & Test Drive

The Mazda RX-8 is, simply put, one of the most pure sports cars currently being sold. At just over 3000lb., it is incredibly agile and will stack up handling-wise with anything you can think of. Like most 'handling-first' sports cars, its acceleration is not devastating. It's the only passenger car to use a rotary engine, a 1.3L wonder of smoothness and revs, delivering 232 horsepower at 8500 rpm and spinning all the way past 9000! It's a bit short on torque, with just 159 lb.-ft at 5500 rpm. But for those who like this kind of driving experience, that won't matter. Other quirks are a high appetite for fuel, and Mazda's own recommendation that you check the rotary's oil level...every time you fill up the gas tank! It's nicely packaged, though, with real seating for four adults, suicide doors to access the rear seats, and plenty of storage and a rear-seat pass-through. At $33055 as tested, it's unlike anything else on the market. Depending on your perspective, Nissan has either completely broken the mold or completely jumped the shark with the new Murano CrossCabriolet. It's a soft-top convertible SUV with no cargo compartment. And it's apparently the brainchild/pet project of Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn. It's quite striking, and has a driving position that host Emme Hall compared to riding a mechanical bull. It's a vanity car through and through, so rational critiques of its lack of utility or steep MSRP ($46390) will fall on the deaf ears of the small slice of Americans that will absolutely love it. Roadfly.com - 2011 Toyota Tacoma Road Test & Review

The 2011 Toyota Tacoma remains the preeminent midsize truck in its class; dependable, reliable, and perfect for hauling cargo or equipment. Host Ross Rapoport spent a week driving in the Tacoma and his impressions have remained unchanged since his last review of the same truck. Much like its competitors, the Tacoma's last redesign was the better part of a decade ago, but has led the pack thanks to its variety of cab-styles and sizes. Tacoma has been dominate in all areas of the competition, from the drivetrain to the interior and exterior aesthetics. For starters, we had the V6 Tacoma, its engine is a 4.0 liter V6 that boasts 236 and an impressive 266 pound feet of torque, and any body style can come in either two wheel drive or four wheel drive. Gas mileage isn't great, you get 16 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway, but it's not exactly a surprise out of a heavy work truck. Our test Tacoma is capable of hauling over 3 tons, and its interior is the most comfortable and roomy out of its competitors. Amenities are decent; satellite radio, bluetooth, GPS, plenty of ample headroom, cupholders galore. The backseat is incredibly spacious as well, our double cab was more than capable of handling a few passengers. And as an added bonus, the rear seats can lift open, revealing a work table underneath, a very handy feature for onsite usage. Some Tacoma buyers may find that the 4-banger engine that Tacoma offers might be better suited towards their needs, but we preferred the ...

Roadfly.com - 2011 Audi A8 Road Test & Review

Audi redesigned their top of the line sport sedan for 2011. The new Audi A8 has redesigned sheet metal and a more pronounced fascia on the outside and the interior is decidedly Audi - upscale and modern. Once you're behind the wheel of this stunning uber-sedan and you're already enjoying some of the best driving dynamics in the world you'll be ready to enjoy the super-modern interior and amenities. Super cool lighting treatments are one of the first things you'll notice about the Audi's interior. The 2011 Audi A8 is most often compared to the Mercedes-Benz S550 and the BMW 7 Series variants. They each offer their own take on the European sport sedan. The big differentiator is probably the price in the case of the Audi. Roadfly.com - 2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon w/Tech Package Road Test & Review

New for 2011, the TSX Sport Wagon adds an extra-strength dose of utility to Acura's entry-level model. The addition of the wagon bodystyle gives the TSX more cargo room than competitors from Audi, BMW, and Volvo, at almost 26 cubic feet with the rear seats up, and over 60 cubic inches with the seats folded. Powertrain options are limited: the TSX Sport Wagon comes only with the base 2.4L inline-4, paired with a 5-speed automatic. That gets the car to 60mph in the mid-eight-second range, and delivers an EPA-rated 22 mpg city/30 mpg highway. Priced at $34610 (plus $860 destination charge), our fully loaded TSX Sport Wagon with Technology Package substantially undercut the starting MSRPs of competing wagons from Audi and BMW. Its huge price advantage, combined with Acura's typically excellent reliability and resale value makes this wagon an extremely smart buy. —Ross Rapoport, Road Test Editor & Video Host To see additional pictures and the window sticker for the 2011 TSX Sport Wagon Tech Package, visit: roadflytv.com Vehicle 2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon w/Technology Package Base Price: $34610 Price as tested: $35470 Engine: DOHC 16v 2.4 inline four-cylinder Transmission: 5-speed automatic w/Sequential SportShift Horsepower: 201 hp @ 7000 rpm Torque: 170 lb-ft @ 4300 rpm 0-60 MPH: 8.5 seconds 1/4-mile time: 16.5 sec. @ 84.9 mph Warranty: 6 yr/70000 mi powertrain warranty; 5 yr/60000 mi limited vehicle warranty Fuel economy (EPA miles per gallon rating): 22 city / 30 highway ...

Roadfly.com - 2011 Infiniti M56 Road Test & Review

Beautifully sleek and curvaceous, the 2011 Infiniti M56 is an exciting and luxurious ride. Infiniti has lengthened this year's models dimensions, increasing the length, height and width overall. Its new powerful engine and flowing redesign are all intact from the 2010 model as well. Roadfly TV and host Ross Rapoport took a good look at the M56 and they were very impressed. Under the hood the Infiniti boasts some true and surprising power. The M56 has a 5.6-liter V8 engine that produces 420 horsepower and gets 417 pound-feet of torque. This impressive feat lets the M get to 60 mph in a time of roughly 4.9 seconds. The seven-speed automatic transmission is flawless, shifting gears with a fluid ease, making great use out of all 420 horses. Inside, the Infiniti shines. The dash and interior materials are made from Japanese ash wood, giving a the M56 a unique and timeless aesthetic. Comfortability and luxury are not a problem here. Altogether the Infiniti M56, sold as the Nissan Fuga in Japan, is a seductive competitor to such European hallmarks as the BMW 5-Series or the Mercedes-Benz E550 and is hot on their heels in terms of desirability and driving enthusiasm. Drivers seeking a classy and distinguished alternative to the European market would do well to take a close look at the M56. Roadfly.com - 2011 Mercedes E550 Cabriolet Road Test and Review

Recently RoadflyTV took the gorgeous and luxurious 2011 Mercedes E550 Cabriolet for a test drive. This convertible turned tons of heads with its aggressive stylings and super-fast V8 engine. Competitors of this beautiful convertible include droptop versions of BMW 3-series and the Infiniti G37 or even the Audi A5, which perhaps retain a little more sportiness in their driving characteristics. This Mercedes-Benz, however, is made for style and class on the open road, and is designed for much more than just the racing enthusiast in mind. Roadfly.com - Mazda 6 Test Drive & Review

Mazda's 6 sedan, redesigned for 2009 with a big boost in power, visited the Roadfly office for a week. We first tested the Mazda 6 in California back in 2009. The car has received some minor updates and is still one of the funnest sport sedans in the mid-size car category. The new(ish) 6 is quick (0-60 in 6.7 sec.), gets decent fuel economy, and has the enthusiast-preferred shift pattern for its 6-speed automatic. (pull down for upshifts, push up for downshifts). In the family sedan category, it's easily the sportiest choice out of the box. However, you can no longer get a manual transmission with the V6, and there is no longer a Mazdaspeed6 in production. Roadfly.com - 2011 BMW 5 Series 535i Road Test & Review

For 2011 BMW completely redesigned the 5 Series. The 2004 - 2010 5 series was successful but wasn't able to maintain the momentum of the previous generation 5 Series mostly due to its styling. The 2011 5 Series changes all that! The new car is styled similarly to the new 7 Series with a visually long hood and aggressive front end. Our test vehicle came with the 3.0 liter twin turbo mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Also available is a new XF 8-speed automatic transmission. All 2011 BMWs come with BMWs no cost maintenance program and a 4 year/50000 mile warranty. The Honda Odyssey is arguably the best minivan on the market, and pioneered many of the features we take for granted in minivans today. It's also pushed other minivans to adopt its racier, more involving character. For 2011 it has been completely redesigned, with Honda's latest tech and its new 6-speed transmission (available only on the Touring Elite model). It's improved in almost every way, and boasts a compelling mixture of performance, fuel economy, and Honda's legendary reliability and resale value. Roadfly.com - 2011 Ford Explorer Review & Test Drive

The 2011 Ford Explorer takes a huge evolutionary leap, transitioning from an old-school ladder-frame SUV to a modern, car-like crossover. I found it a willing partner for the suburban life, with the best 3rd-row stowing mechanism I could possibly have imagined, and decent fuel economy as well (nearly 20mpg observed, EPA rated 17/23). The chassis is rock-solid, and at high speed feels nearly as composed as some European luxury-performance utes I've recently tested. The 3.5L V6 makes 283hp and 252 lb.-ft. of torque, but is handicapped by a 6-speed "SelectShift" transmission that offers manual shift capability—-but only via a tiny rocker switch on the shift knob itself. It's a great start for Ford, with a few minor (and easily fixable) glitches. The NAV system for example is very comprehensive, but equally convoluted. A few tweaks here and there would produce a truly excellent product. -Ross Rapoport, Road Test Editor and Video Host Visit roadflytv.com for more pictures and a downloadable window sticker.
