Pimlico School 1971 - 2010
A short film in memory of the former Pimlico school. Commissioned by the GLC (Greater London Council ), designed by architect John Bancroft and built in the late 1960's. Bancroft's futuristic vision of schools was captured in monolithic concrete. I went there between 1972-76 and had a great time learning from some really great teachers.

So anyway, my career choice as a film director and love for making movies, I was more than happy to make the end of year video. I was actually told by Ana that the deadline for the video to be made was on a Tuesday night before my Sociology Exam day! I stayed up till 4am doing the video on that Tuesday!! OO Once I watched back on my hard work it brought a tear to my eye... I'm gonna miss you all... Such a burst of unique personality our year has. ONE ONE BLOOD!! LOL! UMBRELLA-ELLA-ELLA-EH-EH-EH (SEXY RIHANNA :P) oh man... why do all gd things come to an end...? :( Enjoy the video, class of 2007! Thank you for the great 5 years! Classic London Buses "Passport to Pimlico" (1949)
In 1949 Ealing Studios produced the classic comedy "Passport to Pimlico". Two elderly STL type buses are identifiable and are seen in these clips. In the first, "leaning back" STL 446 (AYV 604) is seen, and then STL 31 (JJ 4343) features in two different scenes. STL 31 left London Transport stock in October 1948, but STL 446 soldiered on until May 1953, just a year before the final STLs were withdrawn from passenger service in London. the clip closes with the final credits featuring the music of French composer Georges Auric. The film "Passport to Pimlico" is available to buy on dvd from Optimum, and is one of the very best of the Ealing Comedies. The film stars Stanley Holloway with Margaret Rutherford in a cameo role.

I'll Have Another completed his journey to the Preakness Stakes at 5:07 pm Monday afternoon, 12 days before he will compete in the Middle Jewel of the Triple Crown at historic Pimlico Race Course.I'll Have Another boarded a van at Churchill Downs at 1:19 pm Monday for the first leg of a journey to Baltimore, where his quest for a sweep of the Triple Crown will resume in the 137th running of the Preakness on May 19. Following a flight from Louisville International Airport to Baltimore-Washington International Airport, the 2012 Kentucky Derby champion was provided an escort to Barn D on the Pimlico backstretch by the Baltimore City Police Department.I'll Have Another's arrival at Pimlico for the Preakness is the earliest by a Kentucky Derby winner in many years.Trainer Doug O'Neill, who returned to Southern California to tend to his stable at Santa Anita, deputized assistant trainer Jack Sisterson to supervise I'll Have Another's trip to Baltimore. The bells of St Gabriels, Pimlico, London
Pimlico is a rather nice area of West London, close to the river and with high white houses on grid streets. I "Boris biked" to this first tower of the tour... mildly terrifying because I hadn't ridden a bike for years let alone on the street. But, as they say, it is just like riding a bike and I subsequently joined a few more people in a slightly more terrifying ride through some busier parts of London. This was a new church built in the early 1850s. In 1855 a new ring of 8 bells was supplied for the graceful steeple by Charles and George Mears of London. The tenor weighs 15-3-10 (805kg) and is in F. The bells had been silent for a few decades in recent times but in 2002 remedial work was done to make them ringable again. Inside the ringing chamber the bells are quiet and there is a lot of banginging and rumbling of various parts - also some of them drop a bit. But then this is an installation on which a lot is still original from 1855 so it would be foolish to expect excellent "go". They are rudiculously loud outside and unfortunately this makes them sound rather bad. They boom out of the tower with no attempt at sound management! This video features a section of a touch of 8-spliced, rung during the FODS tour and dinner weekend in October 2011. Rachel Alexandra Beats The Boys At Pimlico
Rachel Alexandra, with Calvin Borel aboard, won the 134th running of the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Track in Baltimore, Maryland, with Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird finishing second. Mr. Borel rode MTB to the Derby win two weeks earlier. Rachel became the first filly to win the Preakness since 1924. The race was run on May 16, 2009.
