Bob Pease's office
This is a goodbye eulogy to my friend Bob Pease. It starts with a bootleg video I took when I was visiting National Semiconductor in 2008. I mashed it up with some still pictures of Bob's office, some going back 40 years. To that I added some stills I had of Bob from our days together on the Analog Seminar. There may be a couple pictures in there from Fran Hoffart. One office photo is from Don Sauer. The flag at half-mast is from Paul Grohe. Andy Aronson at National Semi has done a great video of Bob. www.national.com My print eulogy is here: www.edn.com I took the .mov from the Dimage X50. I figured out how to upgrade my Sony Vegas 9 to 9e and that along with installing the K-lite codec pack and Quicktime Alternative let me load the mov files intoVegas. I no longer needed to transcode in VLC. I refuse to install Quicktime on any computer I own. I went from 15 to 30fps and doubled resolution to 640x480. I used velocity profiles to do the freeze frames and make the video match the music a little better. It took even longer to figure out a codec setting. The H.263 would not render but Sony Vegas just fails and does not tell you what setting the codec can't do. I finally went to the mainconcept codec and I can't even remember the blizzard of settings I used for that. I can confirm myself this room is in both the normal edition and the GOTY edition for Xbox 360 and also on PC in the normal edition and the GOTY edition. Update: Recently played the game again to get ready for Arkham City and I found out how tricky it is to break the wall! I had to watch my own video lol! Anyway, I did it after the Doctor Young safe scene when you first enter the Warden's Office so you DO NOT have to wait until you have finished the game to enter this secret room!

While Hela experiments on Solex, Dr. K and his alien boss launch an attack on the Bottie's pit. The Botties beat the battle-bots, but it was a fake attack! Raska shows up expressing her concern for their safety and offers Hela the Robix Corp facilities for her research. The Botties go to Robix Corp where they are treated like royalty...until a new robot goes berserk and almost kills them! Hela decides to stick to the Pit so Raska gives them new miniature safety robots...which turn out to be evil decoys that want to blow up Cubix! K'Naan NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert
Though his appearance at the NPR Music office qualifies as the first-ever hip-hop Tiny Desk Concert, Somali-born rapper K'naan isn't one to adhere to a single genre. Given that he released a song called "If Rap Gets Jealous" earlier this year, it's no surprise that this show found him infusing his music with the sounds of soul, pop and reggae.
