Casey Kasem's Report On CD's

Ahh yes, new technology. Well, Casey had a special report back in April of 1983 about a new, cutting edge technology-THE COMPACT AUDIO DISC. "What may or may not be the wave of the future..." Heh. Kinda funny to hear nowadays, eh?

Sorry for the background noise, somehow it recorded that way back in '92. I think this may have been the actual last show Casey did for America's Top 10. Despite Casey saying to tune in the following week, there wasn't a show. I will correct this if I should find out more info. By the way I think this is the first time Casey wore jeans, as always his niffty sweater!

45's - Earth Angel - The Penguins

"Earth Angel (Will You Be Mine)" is an American Doo Wop song, originally released by The Penguins in 1954 on the Dootone label (Dootone 348), as the B-side to "Hey Señorita". The song became a major hit for The Crew-Cuts in 1955, reaching the Billboard charts on January 29, 1955. It peaked at #3 on the Disk Jockey chart, #8 on the Best Seller and #8 on the Juke Box chart. The song was originally recorded as a demo at Ted Brinson's garage studio in South Los Angeles in October 1954, with producer Dootsie Williams. "Earth Angel" quickly outstripped its A-side in popularity, and reached number one on the Billboard R&B chart for three weeks in early 1955, and number eight on the pop chart. Covered many times since, the love song would prove to be the only Top 40 hit from the group. "Earth Angel" ranked 151st on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. In 2004, it was one of 50 recordings chosen by the Library of Congress to be added to the National Recording Registry

In this week of 8/8/82, Bob Eubanks sits in for a vacationing Casey Kasem. The action on the chart that week included 4 entries in the Top 10 for the first time in their careers. Now on Twitter! twitter.com Funny thing..This was the 3rd time in 10 weeks "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" by Stevie Nicks with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, was shown as the featured video on AT10.I can't think of any other video which was featured as many times as this one.Anyone know? Well there's a "new" Number one song that week:"Arthur's Theme" by Christopher Cross www.youtube.com . Chris was no stranger to the # 1 spot. In 1980 he hit the summit on 8/30/80 with "Sailing" www.youtube.com , which only stayed for 1 week, only to be bumped out by Diana Ross with "Upside Down" www.youtube.com Rumour has it that when Chris meet Diana on an Awards show ,some time later in 1980,he was very condescending towards her which he then became confrontational all because her song caused his to drop from the # 1 spot. In his short career, Chris amassed 10 Hot 100 hits, 8 were Top 40, 4 Top 10 and 2 # 1's.Soon after 1985, Chris disappeared from the charts, but he is still active and tours to this day. Chris's other charted hits include: "Ride Like The Wind" # 2 (1980) www.youtube.com ""Never Be The Same" # 15 (1980) www.youtube.com "Say You'll Be Mine" # 20 (1981) www.youtube.com "All Right" # 12 (1983) www.youtube.com 'No Time For Talk" # 33 (1983) www.youtube.com "Think Of Laura" # 9 (1984) www.youtube.com *actually became popular after airing on "General Hospital", the lp was already slipping off the charts and the record label had given up on releasing any more singles from ...

It was his first Top 10 hit.He would again hit the top 10 3 more times during the 80's including his # 1 hit "I Love A Rainy Night" in 1981.Other hits were "Step By Step" # 5 in 1981 and "You And I" a duet with Crystal Gayle, # 7 in 1983.Eddie totaled 8 Top 40 hits during his short chart period, but many on the Country charts.Eddie Rabbit died on 5/7/98 from cancer @ 56.

WAKE UP CALL; FATIMA KASEM Part 1 of 2 - PLEASE SPREAD!!

***OUR GOAL IS TO HAVE THIS SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE WORLD SO THAT ALLAH MAY ACCEPT THE DUAA OF THOSE WHO ASK WITH SINCERITY!!! **** Facebook Group: www.facebook.com Assalamu Alaikum, As some of you may already know, walhamdullah, Fatima Kasem a recent NJIT Alumni who turned 24 while in the coma, Al-Hikmah Islamic School Teacher, and the wife of Omar Awad, our dearly beloved brother and previous NJIT MSA President, has recently been diagnosed with a brain tumor. She went into a coma on January 4th and has been in it since then. Since going into the coma, her brain tumor has become more aggressive. I tell you this not for the sake of making a good story to relay to the next person, but rather because of the amount of Dua Fatima can use from you guys. We urge you to please dedicate time throughout your day and in all your prayers to please make as sincere of a duaa as you can for Fatima's recovery and also for Allah to grant both her family and Omar's family patience in this difficult time. Please make the duaa as sincerely as you would for your own sibling or loved one if they were in the same situation, because Fatima and Omar truly are our siblings. The Prophet (pbuh) has described it as such: "You find the Muslims in their mutual love and compassion, like one body, should any organ of it fall ill, the rest of the body will share in the fever and sleeplessness that ensues". (al-Bukhari) Please also try to read as much of the Quran as you can on a daily basis followed with a ...

America's Top 10 December 19, 1982 Casey Kasem

Now on Twitter! twitter.com As 1982 grew to a close, a quick glance at the Hot 100 chart that week of December 18, 1982, one would see that music was now becoming more to what is classified as "80's pop music".It would be just a few short months and the second British Invasion would define the music of the decade. Unlike today's music where British artists struggle to achieve Stateside hits, in 1982-1983 music from the UK practically shut out US bred artists from their own charts.Just as they did in the years 1964-1965, only in the 80's the assortment of UK artists was actually larger then the heyday of the 60's.At any given time in 1983, almost half of the artists in the Top 40 were UK artists.Simply amazing! On 12/19/82 those artists included: # 4 "The Girl Is Mine" Michael Jackson/Paul McCartney www.youtube.com (Michael is US, Paul is UK born) # 6 "Steppin' Out" Joe Jackson www.youtube.com # 11 "It's Raining Again" Supertramp www.youtube.com # 15 "Up Where We Belong" Joe Cocker and *Jennifer Warnes (US born) www.youtube.com # 17 "Rock The Casbah" The Clash www.youtube.com # 19 "The Look Of Love' ABC www.youtube.com # 22 "You Can't Hurry Love" Phil Collins www.youtube.com # 24 "Heart Attack" Olivia Newton John www.youtube.com (FYI:she was born in England and raised in Australia) # 27 "Goody Two Shoes" Adam Ant www.youtube.com # 33 "Love In Store" Fleetwood Mac www.youtube.com (sure i know, half Uk, half US..it still counts!) # 37 "Shock The Monkey" Peter Gabriel www ...
