Thumbprint Cellars - A wine as Unique as it's Logo. Thumbprint Cellars Tasting Lounge is just a short walk from the plaza in downtown Healdsburg. Scott Lindstrom-Dake, the owner and winemaker, got his start in the winemaking business in 1995 while studying art and making wine for his own personal enjoyment. Using the grapes from his parents vineyard he discovered he had a knack, and much to his surprise, a liking, for the artistic process of making wine. "Making wine is my ongoing artwork," he say's of his jump from sculptor to winemaker. His personal signature is on every bottle - the logo is a Thumbprint from his very own hand. Scott's wines are artisan crafted, small lot, micro-wines and he uses only sustainably grown grapes in his production. Sixty percent of his grapes are organic and he soon hopes to claim using only 100% organic grapes. Scott has played around with the traditional 'Meritage' blend of varietals and adds Syrah to the conventional bordeaux blends. He has also lightened up the old-school snobbery surrounding the 'Meritage' society by naming his blends Threesome, Four Play & Climax. Ranglin at 79 still stings the crowd! Awesome performance with Vinyl, July 5th, 2011. Quick bio read; As child, Ranglin had two uncles who played guitar and ukulele. After watching them play, he practiced on their instruments, and stood in for one of them when they failed to turn up for a recording session, impressing his other uncle so much that he was given the instrument for his seventh birthday.[1] He built his own guitar using a sardine can and wires,[1] before progressing to a real one.[2] He moved with his family to Kingston, where he was educated at Providence, Kingston Senior School, and Bodin College.[1] While still in his teens, he began performing live, locally and in the Bahamas, often with the young Monty Alexander. Charlie Christian was an early influence. Aged 15, he joined the Val Bennett band, and went on to play with the Eric Deans band and Count Boysie.[2] By the early 1950s, Ranglin had become a proficient jazz guitarist and toured overseas.[2] In 1958, Chris Blackwell recorded a Ranglin single, which was one of the first releases on Blackwell's R&B label, and a live album split between Ranglin and Lance Haywood was the first to be released by Blackwell. Around 1959, he joined Cluett Johnson's band the Blues Blasters, recording several tracks for Coxsone Dodd at Studio One, including "Shuffling Jug", regarded as one of the first ska recordings.[2] In 1962, the James Bond film Dr. No was filmed in Jamaica.
