With a power output of 408 hp, outstanding vehicle dynamics and emphatically sporty equipment, the new 911 Carrera GTS ascends to the pinnacle of the Carrera model series. 23 hp more than the 911 Carrera S enable the new GTS -- available as Coupé and Cabriolet -- with 3.8-litre engine to close the gap up to the 911 GT3 with 435 hp. This additional sportiness goes hand in hand with the economic advantage: thanks to Porsche Intelligent Performance, the new top sports car consumes no more fuel than the Carrera S in the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC), and is also priced very attractively due to its extensive standard equipment. The new Porsche 911 Carrera GTS will celebrate its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show in early October. Unique within the Carrera family, the 911 Carrera GTS combines the 44 millimetre wider Carrera 4 body of the AWD models including a wider track with a classic rear-wheel drive. And there are many more details which distinguish appearance and technology of a GTS from other Carrera models. For instance, the GTS runs on 19-inch centre-mount RS Spyder wheels, painted in black, with high-gloss finish rim flanges and 305/30 ZR 19 tyres on the rear axle. Other optical features include the SportDesign front apron with spoiler edge, painted in black, special sideskirts, also in black, and the Carrera GTS logotype on doors and rear lid, in black or silver depending on the body colour. High-res photos: www.worldcarfans.com Porsche has released the first details and photos of the 911 (991) Carrera Cabriolet and the Carrera S Cabriolet. The open top version has the same engines as the Coupe variant. The Carrera Cabriolet's 3.4 liter engine packs 350 PS (257 kW / 345 bhp) while the Carrera S cabriolet gets a little extra from the 3.8 liter engine with 400 PS (294 kW / 394 bhp). The roof design in the up position perfectly retains the 911 roof line of the Carrera Coupe, complete with a fabric soft top just like its predecessor. Additionally, Porsche has introduced a new lightweight folding roof frame using magnesium. Both versions are due to hit the showroom floor in March 2012. German market pricing for the standard Carrera Cabriolet will begin at €100532 while the Carrera S Cabriolet will start at €114931.

2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S Coupe - design analysis with Michael Mauer
High-res photos: Porsche has unveiled the 2012 911 (991) at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Built to usher in a new era of performance, the model has an evolutionary design that is instantly recognizable. Déjà vu aside, the car has a wider track and a wheelbase that has been stretched 100mm (3.9 inches). Inside, the cabin is significantly improved with higher quality materials and a design that mimics the Panamera. Notable highlights include a sloping center console, additional trim and updated switchgear. The entry-level Carrera has a 350 PS (257 kW / 345 hp) 3.4-liter engine which enables it to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds (4.2 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono Package) and hit a top speed of 179 mph (288 km/h). On the other hand, the Carrera S features a 3.8-liter engine with 400 PS (294 kW / 394 hp). It dashes from 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds (3.9 seconds with the SC package) and tops out at 188 mph (302 km/h). The 2012 Porsche 911 will go on sale later this year and pricing starts at €88038 (£71449 / $82100).

I spotted two Ferrari 599 GTOs in Monaco on Sunday 1st August 2010, both on Italian plates. The first is black and parked nearby to a Rosso Corsa Ferrari 458 Italia, which in turn while filming a new Audi R8 Spyder drove by.
