And when you're a company like Toyota, the end result is a stunning Camry that packs NASCAR-levels of horsepower in a gorgeous 2-door coupe body. Built in cooperation with TRD, the experts here at RK Motors drew on some pretty impressive fabrication skills to create the Toyota Camry NASCAR Edition you see here. Similarities to the full-race Camry you see racing on the big ovals every Sunday are not mere coincidence. The exterior shell of the vehicle is a custom 2010 Camry two-door coupe, fabricated entirely in steel by RK Motors' Charlotte expert metalsmiths. Using the body as a canvas, we installed several racecar features including a custom NASCAR-inspired body kit, Toyota grill, carbon fiber brake ducts with fog lights, and TRD emblems. Other trick details include the NASCAR-style side exhaust system, carbon fiber rear-view mirrors, and that faired-in deck lid spoiler. The paint job is a show-quality two-tone that emphasizes the car's muscular shape. This is my Father's 1999 Toyota Camry with the 3.0 liter V6 (1MZ-FE) engine. About every three years, the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve always gets clogged up causing the car to keep stalling when cold started unless the accelerator was depressed while the engine warms up. It's expensive to replace (someone quoted my dad $300) but I read that a shot of carburetor cleaner down the hole usually takes care of the problem.

Toyota has officially unveiled the 2012 Camry. On the styling front, the model has a familiar design with sharper lines and angular headlights. More notably, the SE variant is distinguished by an aerodynamic body kit, a three-spoke steering wheel (with paddle shifters) and metallic trim. Inside, the cabin has a new dashboard, redesigned seats, Bluetooth/USB connectivity and a 6.1-inch Entune infotainment system. Options include the usual suspects as well as a back-up camera, GPS navigation and a JBL audio system. Under the hood, three engines are available. The entry-level 2.5-liter four-cylinder produces 178 hp (133 kW / 180 PS) and 170 lb-ft (230 Nm) of torque. It enables the model to have an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 25 mpg city / 35 mpg highway. Moving up to the 3.5-liter V6 rewards drivers with 268 hp (200 kW / 272 PS) and 248 lb-ft (336 Nm) of torque. Sadly, the added power comes at a cost as the fuel economy dips to an estimated 21 mpg city / 30 mpg highway. Last but not least, the hybrid has a 156 hp (116 kW / 158 PS) 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and a 141 hp (105 kW / 143 PS) electric motor. This setup enables the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 7.6 seconds and return an estimated 43 mph city / 39 mpg highway. That's a 3rd generation LE V6 with the 3VZ-FE engine which was only available for 2 years (92-93) in the US (the 1MZ-FE replaced it for 94-96). The 3VZ is an iron block, aluminum head engine derived from the Toyota truck V6 of the era. They just added fuel injection. It also has 100% of its torque available from 2500 into the 4800 range. 185 hp at 5800 rpm and 195 ft/lbs at 4600 rpm. The ECT button (and green light in the PRND2L column) you probably saw in the car holds the transmission's shift point to a higher RPM before up shifting and waits longer before down shifting. Basically, it allows for sportier driving, better throttle response, and lessened fuel economy. About 35% of Camrys in this year were built in Japan (VIN starts with a J) and the rest were built in Kentucky (VIN starts with a 4). No major parts are different between the two, just a neat fact. I made a video to show how to replace the camrys back speaker covers. The dealership wanted 200 dollars to do this job. Luckily my mom wasn't dumb and let me take care of her problem. Speaker covers can be purchased from many reliable ebay sellers, online stores,and even at your local Toyota dealership store for about 25 dollars. I have found that sometimes the speakers will come loose over time and not be seated flush. 2012 Toyota Camry SE with the 2.5L- 4 cylinder engine. This is a short interior & exterior tour. After a short drive, I'm not sure that I'm going to be able to sell the Camry LE anylonger. Considering that this Camry is just $500 more than the LE model and you get fog lamps, 17" wheels, sport tuned suspension & Springs, sport tuned electric power steering, soft-tex trimmed seats, etc ...this is a show stopper. Great job Toyota!
