2011 UPDATE: Maurice Sendak has released a new book entitled Bumble-Ardy - get it now at your favorite book store (support your local one if you want it to survive)! Political correctness for all in this, a true animated classic from Sesame Street. Looks like Maurice Sendak (and references to a book "Bumble Ardy" are on the net). If CW and 2Oth Century F0X made a movie based on the popular Fox network sitcom, "That 70s Show", the movie should/would open like this. The 1960's Cinemascope logo of TCF followed by an in-credit logo reading, "A Carsey-Werner Films Production" (a la Star Wars) as the 1994-1998 Fox fanfare is playing in the BG. NOTE: Fake. 70's Cartoons Intro Overload!

Back by popular demand, here's a selection of intro sequences from popular cartoons of the 1970's! I've already covered the 80's in a six part video series (or more parts if I get enough requests!) and it was so popular that I've now gone back a decade to bring you this. Including Scooby Doo, Wacky Races, Hong Kong Phooey, Godzilla, Fat Albert and the original Spider-Man cartoon, plus cartoons from Japan (Battle of the Planets) and the United Kingdom (Mr. Benn, Jamie and the Magic Torch). BTW, I know that Scooby Doo and Spider-Man actually started in the late sixties and NOT the seventies, but to be frank, no compliation of 70's cartoons would be complete without Scoob and Spidey! Enjoy!

"Make a Wish" opening 70's Saturday Morning TV

If you want it, you can get it, but to get it, you got to want it... If you were my age and watched Saturday Morning TV, How could you possibly forget this song!? Make A Wish was an American television series which ran on ABC from 1971 to 1976. Produced by ABC News, it was hosted by musician Tom Chapin and created and produced by Lester Cooper. It replaced Discovery, a similar series for children also produced by ABC News (which began in 1962). The series, originally broadcast on Saturday mornings but later moved to Sunday mornings, focused on a particular theme. One episode, for instance, was about snakes, another about motorcycles. Chapin would introduce the topic in much the same manner: "I think a snake is what I'll be. Imagine all the possibilities." After that there would be a sort of free association featuring stock footage, animation, and Chapin's music and voiceover commentary. The series won a Peabody Award for Best Children's Series in 1971.

Cap'n Crunch's very 1st Commercial

This is the very 1st Cap'n Crunch commercial, by Jay Ward Studios. The people who brought us such great classics as Rocky and Bullwinkle, Hoppity Hooper and (the original) George of the Jungle. Of course, they also brought us all of the Quisp and Quake commercials (also for Quaker). It seems that while Quisp and Quake were battling it out over cereal supremacy, the Cap'n showed up and kicked both their asses (and the orange flavored Quangaroos, Quake's replacement) by a wide margin. From their inception through the 1970's, ALL of the Cap'n Crunch commercials (and all of the Jay Ward made commercials) were like mini-cartoon shows. After the 70's ended, the commercials became lame crap like most of the other kids commercials of the 80's, and have never returned to their previous glory.

The Real Thing - Can You Feel the force (70s disco)

DISCO PARTY - Have fun! The Real Thing is an English pop music group formed in 1970. In addition to a string of British hits, the band charted internationally with their song "You to Me Are Everything", which reached #1 on the UK Singles Chart, #28 on Billboard's "R&B Singles" and #64 on Billboard's "Hot 100". By number of sales, they were the most successful black rock/soul act in England during the 1970s.[1] The journalist, author and founder of Mojo, Paul Du Noyer credits them alongside Deaf School with restoring "Liverpool's musical reputation in the 1970s" with their success
