Tokina 11-16mm Review

www.learningdslrvideo.com I am reviewing the Tokina 11-16mmF/2.8 Pro AT-X116DX f/Canon version lens. I am going to discuss: 1. Price, 2. Show lots of b-roll I have shot, what this lens is good for, 3. Sharpness test, 4. Speed of focus, 5. Build quality, 6. Which cameras this works well for. Price tokina-11-16I would say like to say I am not Scott Bourne, if you don't know who he is you should start listening to his podcast 'photofocus'. I don't own as many lenses as Scott does, so this review will be geared towards amateurs like myself that are on a budget. First off, wow look at all these reviews of this lens on B&H, which is a ton for a 3rd party lens! I have high expectations. Better be good at $600 which is only $75 cheaper than the price of my camera. They say you should invest in your glass and not the camera body, I hope they are right! But you really need to put this in perspective because if you wanted to buy something similar like the Canon Super Wide Angle EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM it goes for $2220! Isn't pretty much all of Tokina and some of Canon's glass all come from Hoya anyway? I know a ton of people are searching for the Tokina 11-16mm on Craigslist to find an even cheaper price. I looked in my area but no one was selling this lens, they must like it too much to give it up. Examples of What do you use it for? Check out this shoot I got on the ski slopes, before I got kicked off, I love how dramatic the distortion of a wide angle gives you. A wide angle lens ...

Emma and I had ideas planned for using real motion picture film for the first time, but these plans fell through [Automan, for instance]. We decided to go ahead and do what we initially wanted; to just film and get a feeling for what 16mm can do. Different frame rates, stop motion, ideas, etc...This is just a simplistic compilation of the silent footage. Apollo 11 First Steps, High Quality 16mm DAC

Neil Armstrong's first steps on the moon during the Apollo-11 mission are often shown as seen by the Apollo Lunar Television Camera - a black and white slow-scan TV camera, but there was another camera on the mission which captured the first steps on the moon and other portions of the mission. The Maurer 16mm Data Acquisition Camera was a 16mm movie camera that NASA loaded with the highest quality, finest grained, film stock of its day. The camera was capable of running at 24 fps for full motion recording, 12 fps for near full motion recording as well as 6 and 1 fps for time laps recording. (The slowed recording speeds used to conserve film). On Apollo-11 the DAC was mounted near the window of the lunar module and was initially operated at full speed to record the historic first portion of the EVA by Neil Armstrong. Buzz Aldrin remained in the lunar module to record the EVA and to operate other instruments such as the TV downlink before joining Armstrong on the lunar surface. If you look carefully you can see Buzz Aldrin's reflection on the window as he works in the lunar module. After this sequence, the camera was adjusted and slowed down to the 1FPS time laps/stop motion setting which was used to record the entirety of the mission EVA by the two astronauts. Such speed was required to keep the film from running out during the EVA. The camera did not record sound, but the corresponding sound from the radio downlink has been added and synchronized. This could be considered ...

Dante's Inferno (Clay Animation, 16mm)

www.alexiswallerimages.com A VERY abridged (and unfinished) movie of Dante's Inferno, depicting the pilgrim's journey from the dark wood to the Giants in Canto XXXI, just before their descent in to Cocytus. I've sculpted the devil (he's stored in a shoebox in my closet) but haven't filmed that part yet. Theoretically, Purgatorio and Paradiso will follow. This is what happens when you graduated with a major in Italian lit in today's world. Unemployment ensues, followed by acquisitions of 16mm cameras and months spent bringing exiled 13th century Florentine statesmen to life in plasticine. Enjoy the fruits of last year's joblessness. - Alexis Waller Music by Dhol Drum Foundation.

The Beatles Live in America: 16mm Color Live Concert Footage (1964)

1964 www.amazon.com Watch more: lifeofthebeatles.blogspot.com The Beatles toured internationally in June. Staging thirty-two concerts over nineteen days in Denmark, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand, they were ardently received at every venue. Starr was in hospital after a tonsillectomy for the first half of the tour, and Jimmie Nicol sat in on drums. In August they returned to the US, with a thirty-concert tour of twenty-three cities. Generating intense interest once again, the month-long tour attracted between ten and twenty thousand fans to each thirty-minute performance in cities from San Francisco to New York. However, their music could hardly be heard. On-stage amplification at the time was modest compared to modern-day equipment, and the band's small Vox amplifiers struggled to compete with the volume of sound generated by screaming fans. Forced to accept that neither they nor their audiences could hear the details of their performance, the band grew increasingly bored with the routine of concert touring. At the end of the August tour they were introduced to Bob Dylan in New York at the instigation of journalist Al Aronowitz. Visiting the band in their hotel suite, Dylan introduced them to cannabis. Music historian Jonathan Gould points out the musical and cultural significance of this meeting, before which the musicians' respective fanbases were "perceived as inhabiting two separate subcultural worlds": Dylan's core audience of "college kids ...

This is just a test reel for my first on-hand experience with a 16mm film camera. I rented the dust-gathering Eclair NPR camera from Baylor when I was a student there. Unfortunately it has been my only experience with 16mm thus far but I considered the opportunity invaluable as it is rather expensive to shoot 16mm without free rentals from school. The music is a track from a Ghosts and Vodka album.

A slingshot without ammo is useless. The right weight and size of the ammo is critical, and the 16mm lead balls that you can cast at home with this new, great product are just about perfect. The Slingshot Channel shows the entire procedure, including the required gear and some tipps where to find cheap or free lead. JBLenoir in Chicago - 1964 - original 16mm color

From the original 16mm footage with the original optical soundtrack shot in Chicago by Steve and Ronnog Seaberg and Peter Amft. One of the earliest films of a Chicago blues musician, especially in color, showing what J,B, looked like when he appeared on stahe and in clubs in either his gold, charteuse, black or zebra striped tuxes or tailcoats, his gold colored electric guiter, harmonica and mic holder and a long cord so that he could move around the club floor. All of this as opposed to the image promoters wanted him to have with an acoustic guitar and unasuminf clothes as seen in other film and video clips from this time. The idea was that he should appear as an unsophistacated folk-musican rather than the professional artist that he really was Some of this footage made by the Seabergs appears in Wim Wenders' film, The Soul of a Man, along with an interbiew with the Seabergs describing the bkues scene in Chicago at that time and their friendship with and admiration for JB Other clips on YouTube made from the Seabergs' original film and taken from The Soul of a Man have had a new soundtrack added by Wenders which include drums and vocal by Willie Dixon from another recording of the same songs and which were not present at the original filming.
